Description for B&B:
Welcome to Rochefort en Terre, a village that seems to have stood still for nearly six centuries. Founded in 1498 by Jean Rochefort sire Rieux, this village is a true testament to its medieval origins with its cobbled streets, timbered houses, houses of granite, and the iconic La Tour du Lion.Step into our house, which dates back to the mid-16th century. Its first owner was likely a steward, administrator, or member of the nobility, such as a lawyer, clerk, or seneschal. As you enter, you will instantly be transported back to the atmosphere of 500 years ago. The house offers five bedrooms, each with its own unique character, five bathrooms, a patio, and a garden that provides a breathtaking view of the sandstone and slate in the surrounding hamlet.
We invite you to share a timeless experience with us.
One of our rooms, named "Napoleon House," is dedicated to the spirit of the Empire era. Fully decorated in the style of the time, with exquisite woodwork, gilding, and curtains, this room is a haven for lovers of the old guard and eagles of the Emperor. The room is priced at 130 EURO per night.
For those who adore a romantic ambiance, our "Marie Antoinette" room is perfect. With a stone wall, ceiling beams, and a charming pink decor featuring "toiles de Jouy," guests can sleep in the bed fit for a queen. The bathroom is a small jewel of beauty.
The "Francois First" room features a double bed, toilet, and shower. The scalloped headboard, the yellow parchment signed by the King hanging on the wall, and the centennial parquet flooring in the toilet all add to the historical charm. It is said that Francois 1st, the French king who passed away in 1547, visited Rochefort and may have slept on the very ground beneath your window. Sweet dreams await you in this room.
Step into the "Moulin Rouge" room and be captivated by the magic of Paris. With two single beds and a bathroom complete with a bathtub, this charming room is adorned with drawings, tables, and colors that bring to life the vibrant spirit of the iconic cabaret. From the bathroom, you can enjoy a view of the terrace and the garden, making your bath experience even more enchanting.
Last but not least, the "Anne of Brittany" room offers a double bed, toilet, and shower. This room pays homage to the Duchess of Brittany, the only woman who became queen of France twice, during the reigns of Charles VIII and Louis XII. With a four-poster bed, fireplace, Aubusson tapestry, and touches of ermine, this room encapsulates the grandeur of the past.
