Dar Al Bahar, appropriately named "the house by the sea," is situated on the ramparts of Essaouira in the "San Dion" area, where it directly faces the ocean and its invigorating trade winds. The terrace offers an awe-inspiring view of the constant motion of winds colliding with the coastal rocks, creating a mesmerizing spectacle. Additionally, from this vantage point, one can admire the panoramic vista of the medina, encompassing the ancient Scala's northern fort and the Mellah, which was once the Jewish quarter. In the distance, the sand dunes can be seen, extending to the city's northern outskirts.

Originally built at the turn of the previous century, this house has been meticulously renovated by Jean-Claude and Lise, a French-Dutch couple. In the past, this part of Essaouira thrived due to the presence of an authentic windmill, now in ruins, which supplied flour to the city and the surrounding areas. The street name, Touahen, meaning "mill" in Arabic, is a reminder of its former existence.

Today, the tranquility of this place is only interrupted by the crashing waves and the calls of seagulls.
