MiKa-GaLe is a charming 3-bedroom longere located in the peaceful village of Ploerdut in the Morbihan Region of Brittany. Set on 1.75 hectares of private garden and land, this cozy gite comfortably sleeps 6 people, with the possibility of accommodating larger groups upon request.Situated amidst rolling green hills and tranquil wooded valleys, MiKa-GaLe offers a serene rural setting. The surrounding countryside is perfect for outdoor activities such as walking, running, cycling, bird-watching, photography, drawing, and painting. There is an extensive network of footpaths that traverse open fields, as well as densely wooded hills and river valleys. The area is also rich in history, with numerous monuments, churches, chapels, and well-preserved medieval villages to explore.
Within walking distance of the house, the village of Ploerdut has a charming Medieval Church, a Boulangerie, crêperie, two friendly bars, an eatery, and a self-service shop. Additionally, there are many interesting places to visit within a short drive, including the enigmatic Chapelle St. Barbe, the historic town of Guemene Sur Scorff, the picturesque Vallee-du-Scorff, and the beautiful Lac de Guerladan.
For those seeking a taste of city life, the larger historic city of Pontivy is just a 20-minute drive away. Other nearby cities and towns of interest include Vannes, Josselin, Pont-Aven, Concarneau, Quimper, and Carnac. The stunning lake resorts of Priziac, Langoelan, and Lac Guerledan offer opportunities for swimming, water sports, and relaxation on the beach.
MiKa-GaLe itself is more than just a vacation rental - it is a home away from home. The traditional Breton stone longere has been fully renovated while retaining its unique character features. On the ground floor, you will find a modern, fully equipped kitchen, a spacious dining room, a cozy lounge with a log wood-burner, and French doors that open onto the garden and sun terrace. The ground floor also includes a laundry area and a toilet.
Upstairs, there are three bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom. Two bedrooms have double beds, while the third bedroom has two single beds. One of the bedrooms also has a sofa bed, and additional fold-away beds can be set up if needed. All bedrooms offer magnificent views of the garden and surrounding countryside. The house is well-insulated and has central heating throughout.
Outside, the large garden offers separate areas for relaxation and outdoor dining. There are quiet lawned areas under old apple trees, as well as spaces for summer barbecues. The extensive and enclosed garden is perfect for children to run, play, and explore. The property also features an orchard with apple, pear, plum, and apricot trees, and guests are welcome to enjoy the delicious fruits. Private parking is available on-site.
Rates for MiKa-GaLe are based on a weekly stay, with Saturday as the change-over day. However, shorter stays can be arranged upon request. The rates include a welcome basket of local goodies, all linen and towels, heating, gas, electricity, logs for the wood-burner during the winter season, a "meet and greet" by the property manager, and end-of-stay cleaning. A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure a booking, with the balance of payment and a security/damage deposit due one month before the arrival date. To reach the house in Brittany, you can fly into several airports in order of proximity: Lorient, St. Brieuc, Dinard, Brest, and Rennes. After landing, you will need to drive to the house.
Alternatively, you can take a train from Paris to Rennes, Vannes, or Lorient, and then drive to the house.
The drive from Paris Airports to the house takes approximately 5 hours on the motorway, with a toll of around 25 Euros.
If you prefer to travel by ferry, the nearest ports are Roscoff (1.5 hours away), St. Malo (2 hours away), Caen (3 hours away), and Cherbourg (4 hours away).
To easily find your way to the house, simply enter "Poulmarvezen" into your GPS, and it will guide you directly to the front gate.
