Description:

Description for B&B:

Situated in the picturesque Loire Valley, our guest room at the Old Castle offers a stunning view of the Chaumont-sur Loire castle and its garden festival. Located in the charming village of Onzain, with a population of 3500, we are conveniently only a fifteen-minute drive from Blois, Amboise, Chenonceau, and a half-hour drive from Chambord or Tours. Additionally, the SNCF Paris-Tours train stops at Onzain station multiple times a day, with easy transfers. Whether you choose to travel by train or car, you can reach Paris in less than two hours.

The guest room itself is a spacious suite of four rooms (70 m2) with a private terrace on the upper floor of the historic wing of the building. This floor, which dates back over 500 years and has walls 1.20 meters thick, was rebuilt in the 19th century and completely renovated in 2010. You will have complete independence with private access to the suite.

On the left side of the suite, you will find a room that showcases the materials and remnants of the old castle. This is where breakfast will be served in case of bad weather. Climbing the stairs, you will enter the main room, flooded with natural light from four openings on both sides, with an area of over 25 m2. On the moat side, a historic stone staircase provides access to the suite and leads to a small covered terrace nestled against the remains of the 14th-century tower. Breakfast will be served there when the weather permits.

The spacious master bedroom features a comfortable 180-bed or two 90 cm beds. There is also a day bed (a real 90 cm bed) that can potentially accommodate a child. On the courtyard side, there is an office with a fireplace and a TV (Telephone and Internet available), with a 90 cm bed (a second one is possible). On the moat side, there is a small living room followed by a dressing room, which includes a 90 cm bed. This space leads to the bathroom, which has a toilet and a bath. A cot and baby equipment are available upon request.

The park, the large terrace (220m2), and the secure moat are perfect for leisurely walks. You can even use our boat, although you will be responsible for its use, to get closer to the swans and ducks that adorn the 5000 m2 moat. Please note that our four-legged friends are not allowed, as the moat is populated by various animals and guarded by our two dogs, Willow and Weston.

We are proud to be approved by "Gîtes de France" (3 ears) and our guest room at the old castle is open year-round, by reservation. During the season, the Association for the moats "The Arts of Helion" organizes concerts and shows, and if you are our guests on a day of performance, you will be our special guests. If there is any particular furniture in your room that catches your eye, don't hesitate to inquire about purchasing it from the Museum-Gallery of the Old Castle.

Appréciations pour Les Douves, Onzain:

Sejour très réussi!
Review by: Exbrayat, Juin 30 2012 12:22PM
