Description for B&B:
Located in the heart of the Dauphiné, in the town of Chirens, this flour-mill began its operations in the year 1840, situated along the Cras river. Originally owned by the Richard-Martin family, who were millers for generations, this mill was painted in a charming pink color back in 1895. The water flows through a reach and then a suspended channel before finally reaching the troughs, where its weight propels the rotation of the wheel. Inside, you will find large spur gears connecting two sets of grinding wheels: one for grinding corn and the other for wheat. An overhead horizontal axle drives the vertical grinding wheel, suspended from the ceiling.Currently, certain equipment has been preserved, including the wheat cleaner, troughs elevators, bolters, and the flour mixer. The residential area of the mill has been transformed into guest rooms and a kitchen, offering a unique accommodation experience.
