Description:

Description for Gite

Welcome to Mas de la Gache, a charming farmhouse dating back to the early 17th century. Over the past 12 years, we, Esmé, Eddie, Julia, and Lucie, have dedicated ourselves to restoring this historical site and giving it a new lease on life. In addition to our small-scale farming activities, we have also built a holiday apartment, which will be available for rent starting this summer.

Our "Mas" is nestled peacefully outside the village, just a 15-minute walk away, separated from it by the picturesque Cèze river. This location allows us to create our own little paradise, free from traffic noise, streetlights, bustling resorts, and prying neighbors. Instead, we offer tranquility, starry nights, the melodies of birds and insects, the delightful sounds of chicks and roosters, fresh eggs, and homegrown tomatoes. Furthermore, our region enjoys favorable weather for most of the year, enhancing the perfect environment for rest and relaxation. It's an ideal setting for long siestas in the shade of riverside trees, leisurely breakfasts, and indulging in delicious meals.

For an affordable price, you can experience the high life in the enchanting deep south of France. What sets us apart is the spaciousness and serenity surrounding our farm, something we cherish and hope you can fully appreciate during your stay. We love waking up in the morning, sipping coffee while listening to the chorus of birds and the gentle flow of the river. Life in the south is meant to be enjoyed outdoors, but we have also created an 80 m2 apartment on the first floor of one of our barns. This charming space features a roof terrace overlooking the yard, two double (or triple) bedrooms with private bathrooms, and a large open-plan living/kitchen area. Restored in line with traditional building techniques, the apartment provides a refreshing retreat during the warm summer days.

Inside, you will find all the comforts you need for a pleasant stay, including a spacious kitchen, television, a cozy wood stove, and heated bathrooms. Outside, there is plenty of room to play, take walks, or simply relax. Goudargues, our neighboring village, is a quaint town with a population of around 1000 people. Its rich history spans centuries, evident in its charming architecture and surrounding landmarks. Goudargues, located in the Cèze valley, is also known as the "Venice of Gard" due to its network of canals weaving through the village center. As the hub of eco-tourism in the region, Goudargues offers a range of amenities such as bakeries, butcher shops, hair salons, beauty parlors, a village supermarket, numerous bars and restaurants, a post office, tourist information, and various specialty shops. This vibrant atmosphere distinguishes Goudargues from being just another picturesque village by providing a lively and enjoyable experience.

Despite its popularity among visitors, Goudargues maintains its laid-back charm, where time slows down and there is always an opportunity to savor a cold beer or a refreshing pastis on one of the terraces lining the canals, shaded by the magnificent 200-year-old plane trees.
