Description:

Description for B&B:

Until 1872, the location of this house was home to the gardens of the St Laurent convent, a Benedictine convent for women. Today, the area is occupied by the Residences of the Abbey, which are apartments.
The house is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from the Bourges Cathedral.

During the revolution, the grounds were sold off, and Mr. Alphonse-Joseph Charmeil, an art teacher at the Royal Middle School of Bourges and the founder of the Bourges Museum, built this unique house in the style of Napoleon III. He added a pavilion and two separate houses to the garden in 1878, which featured marble decorations.

Originally, the marble decorations were part of the choir tour of the St Pierre Le Marché church, built in 1760 (now known as the Notre-Dame church). These original decorations are still intact and have been registered as historical artifacts.
