Description for B&B:

Welcome to The House of Stone, a charming family house located in the heart of the Auvergne region. The owner's passion for the area is evident throughout the house, as they wanted to share their love for the region and the small pleasures that make life here so special.

Situated in the village of Vernet Sainte Marguerite, perched at over 1000 meters above sea level, the house offers breathtaking views of the Monne river and the surrounding landscapes. It serves as the perfect starting point for hiking enthusiasts, allowing them to explore both the volcanic craters and the majestic peaks of the Massif Central.

With its beautiful slate roof and rustic interior decor featuring antique pieces and animal skins, the house exudes a cozy and authentic atmosphere. Modern comforts, such as a pellet stove and a hidden TV screen, are subtly incorporated into the traditional design. The kitchen, although not equipped with a dishwasher, boasts a charming open counter that connects to the dining room.

To make the most of the sunshine, you can enjoy breakfast on either the deck or the balcony, while admiring the quaint rural heritage of Vernet Sainte Marguerite. From the village church to the town square with its monument honoring soldiers of past wars, there is much to see. If you're lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of local women doing their laundry in the nearby fountain and wash house.

The wooden staircase leads to the attic, where you'll find the sleeping area with two bedrooms - one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. The bathroom and toilet are conveniently located on the main floor.

The location of the house is ideal, nestled between Lake Chambon and Lake Aydat, and surrounded by Nordic areas and stunning natural landmarks. Whether you visit during winter or summer, The House of Stone offers a cozy retreat to enjoy all that the Auvergne region has to offer.

Description for Gite

This charming house with a stunning slate roof is the perfect place to unwind and immerse yourself in a unique blend of rustic charm and vintage decor. The owner has carefully curated a collection of antique items, from old boxing gloves to ancestral squash racquets, and even vintage transistor radios and hanging horns that serve as trophies. While the house boasts modern comforts, such as a pellet stove discreetly placed between the hutch and buffet, a comfortable couch, and a TV screen hidden within a cabinet, it maintains a nostalgic feel reminiscent of a time when the ORTF had yet to make its mark.

The kitchen, although not equipped with a dishwasher, exudes a certain timelessness with its open counter that connects it to the dining room. Ascend the wooden staircase to find the sleeping quarters in the attic, featuring two bedrooms - one with a cozy double bed (140) and the other with two single beds (90). The bathroom and toilet are conveniently located on the same floor.

For those seeking sunshine, enjoy your breakfast on the deck or balcony while taking in the picturesque sights of the quaint and rural heritage of Vernet Sainte Marguerite. Cast your gaze upon the village church, the square with its monument dedicated to the soldiers of the two wars, the town hall, the fountain, and the washhouse (where you may catch a glimpse of women still engaged in traditional laundry practices). In the distance, admire the majestic puy Allou.
