Description for B&B:
The village of Mailly-la-Ville is situated at the junction of the Yonne river and the Canal du Nivernais, offering a unique location for boating, canoeing, fishing, swimming, or leisurely walks. The river and canal are major attractions for tourists, especially since the village is adjacent to the picturesque "Les Coûtas" coasts, once covered in vineyards that disappeared in the early 20th century. From the village center, you can access beautiful panoramic views along the paths of these coasts.Located on the first floor of a 17th-century building, independent from the owners' house, you will find three guest rooms overlooking one of the locks of the Canal du Nivernais. On the ground floor, there is a relaxation area for your enjoyment, including a fully equipped kitchen where you can prepare meals or dine on-site. Additionally, a shared inner courtyard is accessible to guests.
With a total capacity of 8 people, the guest rooms can be transformed into guest houses by booking all three bedrooms simultaneously. The guest rooms "Les Coûtas" are open year-round.
One of the guest rooms, called "Chambre du Père Leleu," is a family suite that offers a special view of one of the locks of the Canal du Nivernais and the Yonne River. This suite is named after a local figure, Father Leleu, who settled in the neighboring commune of Saint-Moré in 1887. Father Leleu, a former Communard and soldier, lived in a cave overlooking the Cure, Roche Percee. He explored the caves and discovered numerous prehistoric artifacts. He made a living by showcasing his troglodyte lifestyle, inviting visitors to his "apartments" and displaying live vipers. In 1913, his body was found inside his cave under mysterious circumstances, leaving behind a legendary tale. During your stay, you can follow in the footsteps of Father Leleu and discover his fascinating story.
The family suite consists of two rooms with a double bed and two bunk beds, a private bathroom, and a toilet separate from the bathroom. The suite also has water facilities. There is an option to arrange the bunk beds for children under 6 years old. The double bed measures 140 cm, while the single bunk beds measure 90 cm. The bedroom is equipped with two desks and two storage cabinets, and there is electrical heating available. The shower room includes a shower, washbasin, heated towel rail, and a hairdryer.
