Description for B&B:
Le Gaudin is a charming 18th-century farmhouse that has been beautifully transformed into a luxurious 5 bedroom bed and breakfast. Situated in the historic region of Suisse Normande, the house resides on the grounds of an ancient Abbey, surrounded by lush woodlands. In the past, pilgrims on their way to Mont-St-Michel would fill their bottles from the stream that runs through the wooded area. This unique setting makes Le Gaudin truly exceptional. While preserving the original character of the farmhouse, we have enhanced and restored the house to cater to the needs of modern travelers. Every aspect of the property reflects the creativity and style that is characteristic of the region. Guests will appreciate the exposed stone walls, a magnificent fireplace, and the long dining table where they can enjoy our delicious and convivial dinners.
Spread across a 4-acre site, Le Gaudin boasts picturesque lawns and its own tranquil lake. The surrounding woodlands provide a peaceful ambiance, allowing guests to listen to the melodious songs of birds and enjoy the spectacle of conkers falling from the horse chestnuts during autumn. Moreover, the absence of light pollution makes it an ideal spot for stargazing.
Each of our bedrooms at Le Gaudin is essentially a suite, offering ample space, en-suite bathrooms, and stunning views. Every room has its own unique style and details that not only provide comfort but also serve as a reminder of the local way of life.
Whether it's sitting by the cozy log fire with a glass of Calvados, curling up with a good book on our comfortable sofas, or enjoying a delightful meal and great company at our expansive dining table, Le Gaudin ensures an unforgettable experience. The property also features a collection of World War II artifacts, picture books, and other interesting discoveries to keep guests entertained.
At Le Gaudin, we understand the importance of breakfast and take it very seriously. Each morning, guests are treated to a wide array of options, including fresh breads, pastries, cereals, meats, cheeses, and yogurts. A selection of juices, tea, and coffee is also available to complement the meal.
