Description for B&B:

As Dutch speakers, we are fluent in English, French, and German, so please feel free to reach out to us in your native language.

Located at 21 Rue des Halles, across from the Council House in the charming medieval village of Mornac sur Seudre, the former Mayor's house was meticulously designed by architect Jean Buneau for Mayor Rouffineau. Buneau hailed from the nearby fashionable seaside resort of Royan, which is reflected in the architectural style of this magnificent Charentais townhouse. Its grandeur provides a striking contrast to the picturesque Celtic origins of Mornac, reminiscent of 19th-century Paris.

The building, crafted from carved stone, exudes an elegant yet slightly weathered charm, a characteristic that the current owners take pride in preserving.

The Courtyard
At the back of the house, you'll find a delightful enclosed courtyard. Weather permitting, a generous breakfast is served at a long table under a large parasol. This same space also serves as a lovely setting for pre-dinner cocktails.

The Pool
Discreetly tucked away in a corner of the courtyard, there is a small swimming pool, perfect for a refreshing dip whenever desired.

The Tea Garden
Crossing the pathway at the rear of the house, you'll discover a beautiful tea garden. In May, the mature cherry tree bears an abundance of succulent cherries, providing welcome shade throughout the summer. The classical garden furniture invites you to relax and indulge in afternoon tea.

The Dining Room
On the rare occasion that the weather doesn't permit alfresco breakfast, the stylish Salle à Manger offers a cozy alternative. It is tastefully furnished with a nod to Monsieur Rouffineau's intended style.

The Library
Our well-stocked bookshelves offer an extensive selection of reading materials and information in multiple languages. La Bibliothèque also serves as a space for board games and card evenings, and the piano is available for accomplished amateurs.

Notre séjour a mornac
Review by: Famille charlet, Aou 13 2023 11:28AM
