Description for B&B:
Our house, Ygeia or Hygieia, is named after the Greek Goddess of Health. Perhaps that's why we always feel so good when we're there! We fell in love with this house back in 2009 and have put in a lot of hard work ourselves to make it what it is today. The only major construction we didn't do ourselves was the pool, which is why it's taken a while to complete. We decided to rent it out as a gite to help cover costs and to share this amazing place with others. We hope you'll have a fantastic time and enjoy the property just as much as we do!
We are delighted to welcome you to our home, a charming traditional French country house. We've maintained its old-fashioned charm while adding modern fixtures for your comfort. Whether you're outside on the exceptional river terrace, exploring the lush green garden, or inside in the cozy and comfortable rooms, we're confident you'll fall in love with the house just like we did.
Flaujagues is located 15 kilometers from St Emilion, a famous medieval village and vineyard that is also a designated UNESCO world heritage site. It's also just 50 kilometers from Bordeaux and about an hour and a half from the beautiful Atlantic coast and the Bassin d'Arcachon, known for its beaches and oysters, as well as the renowned Medoc region, famous for its excellent wines. Flaujagues lies in the Entre-deux-Mers, known for its wines, medieval villages, and multitude of hiking trails. There are also four golf courses nearby.
The southwest of France is a gastronomic haven, with a wide range of restaurants catering to all tastes. From the Michelin-starred chef at Hostellerie de Plaisance in St Emilion to La Puce, a local restaurant for vineyard workers, you'll find an amazing diversity of flavors. From side of beef to local fish like la Lamproie, from pigeon to oysters from Arguin, the culinary choices are endless. We'll be happy to guide you in the right direction.
If cooking is your passion, we can point you to the best places to shop for high-quality products and wines.
We are conveniently located between two international airports: Bergerac, which is connected to England via Ryanair (40 km away), and Bordeaux Merignac (50 km away).
