The Cumeadas do Baixo Guadiana is a stunning location known for its natural beauty, making it the perfect setting for rural tourism. Within this picturesque area, you will find a century-old farmhouse that has been transformed into five comfortable self-catering apartments. The restoration of this farmhouse focused on preserving the traditional architectural style of the Algarve.

These apartments are fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Each apartment features a fully equipped kitchenette with utensils, linens, toiletries, duvets, and wood for the fireplace. We have paid attention to every detail to ensure that you feel at home during your stay.

There is a common front yard area where guests can relax and enjoy a drink or have a barbecue under the shade of the porch. The apartments are spread across different floors, accommodating between 2 to 6 people.

We offer airport pick-up services as well as transportation from the train or bus stations. We also welcome pets, so feel free to bring your furry friends along.

About Castro Marim:
Castro Marim is a town in the Algarve region, close to the border with Spain. It is known for its beautiful beaches and the impressive Castro Marim Castle. Explore the area and discover its charm and tranquility, just a short distance from the bustling beaches of Monte Gordo Bay.

The Houses of Old Haystack are part of a small complex located in Castro Marim. The construction of these houses dates back to the 19th century, and their rehabilitation has preserved the traditional architecture of the region. Traditional materials such as sugar cane, lime, wood, stone, tile, and wool were used during the restoration process.

We prioritize environmental preservation, and our wastewater is treated through a filtration system using halophyte plants and shrubs from the coast. The purified water is then used for irrigation purposes.

The Houses of the old barn consist of five accommodations, including three bedrooms and two suites. Each room is equipped with comfortable beds, a TV, air conditioning, and a private bathroom with a shower. Guests can enjoy breakfast in a communal dining area and relax in the garden, by the pool, or at the barbecue area.

Surrounded by beautiful nature and breathtaking views, our location offers a peaceful retreat. You can observe agricultural workers and grazing sheep, immersing yourself in the rural atmosphere. We are just a three-minute drive from two golf courses, five minutes from the Beliche dam, and ten minutes from the beaches of Monte Gordo Bay.

To reach us, you can fly into Faro airport and take the A22 towards Spain. Take the last exit before the International Guadiana Bridge and follow the IC 27 and then the EN 122 until you reach Junqueira near Montes de Castelhanos, where you will find the Houses of the Old Haystack.
