Description for B&B:
The common Mauguio Carnon is a town located 10 minutes east of Montpellier. Situated in the Camargue region, it is a melting pot of marshes, rice fields, vineyards, and woodlands. This country is a blend of land and water, tradition and modernity, offering a diverse range of landscapes. Throughout its history, Mauguio has been shaped by its unique relationship with nature, resulting in traditional economies such as salt production, reed cutting, and viticulture. The culture of the region is deeply intertwined with the presence of bulls, horses, and men. Mauguio is conveniently situated between Nimes and Montpellier, with easy access to the A9 motorway. The bull, or "biou," is a sacred animal associated with the local culture, and its name can be found on the posters for Camargue races. The Costières Camargue region is a land of contrasts, with hills and marshes, vineyards and meadows, and a blend of tradition and modernity. The Petite Camargue is a place that sparks the imagination, with its horses, bulls, and birds captivating visitors. Mauguio is the gateway to the Camargue, with its two poles, the town and the resort of Carnon, facing the Etang de l'Or. The city itself has a rich history, dating back to the Middle Ages when it was the first medieval town of Lower Languedoc. Mauguio is also home to one of the largest Spanish communities in France. The city covers a vast area, with a significant portion occupied by the lake of Gold and agricultural land, including market gardens, orchards, and vineyards. The Etang de l'Or is a wetland of national importance, with diverse flora and fauna. The area is known for its excellent farmland, supplying Montpellier with a variety of crops. The resort of Carnon, with its barrier beach and marina, is a popular destination for summer tourists. The protected dunes and beaches are known for their quality sand and water, and the marina has a growing reputation. Another advantage of Mauguio is its proximity to the Montpellier-Méditerranée International Airport, which serves as a hub for modern communication networks. In this flat land between swamps and the city, it is common to encounter riders, as there are numerous stables and herds in the area.Reviews
