Description for B&B:
A Casa Reale, our guest house, was originally built by the De Battisti family in the late 17th century. It stood out as the only Patrician-style house in the entire district during that time. Throughout the centuries, it became a gathering place for notable individuals such as Count De Boissieux, Count de Marbeuf, Viscount de Barin, and most notably, Sir Gilbert Elliot, the viceroy of Corsica. In the 19th century, the house was transformed into a luxurious hotel, hosting esteemed guests like Gustave de Flaubert, Joseph Multedo, the Duc of Orleans, and Prosper Mérimée. However, after the hotel closed down, this magnificent place was left abandoned for many years.
Today, our family has fully renovated and repurposed the house, creating a haven of tranquility in the heart of the city. A Casa Reale offers a range of amenities, including a spacious terrace with breathtaking views of the nearby sea and dock, a 70-square-meter living room adorned with a beautiful bookshelf, a relaxation area for watching TV or playing games, and a grand piano from a renowned Prussian factory dating back to 1904, originally gifted to Belgian King Leopold.
The restoration of the house was undertaken with utmost care, aiming to preserve the authenticity and style of the old patrician residence. Every detail was chosen to recreate a picturesque and unique atmosphere, with skilled craftsmen using handmade terracotta tiles, meticulously restoring the decorative moldings, and incorporating century-old cement tiles. The blend of modern and antique furniture creates a perfect balance, ensuring a harmonious ambiance throughout.
