Appréciations pour Glencairn Inn, Lismore:
A short while ago..
Stayed at this inn after reading Karen Brown's guide. It was called Buggy's then and Mrs. Buggy was welcoming. Mr. Buggy had drawings all over the walls and caught the salmon that we ate that night. Its been awhile since we were there, but I still remember it .
Directions
We are located approximately 140 miles (three and a half hours) from Dublin, 36 miles (one hour) from Cork, 93 miles (two and a half hours) from Rosslare, two hours from Limerick, and four hours from Galway.
From Dublin: Follow the signposts for "The South," Limerick, or Cork. Take the N7 and M7 towards Port Laoise, bypassing it. Important: Do not take the N9/M9 unless you plan on visiting Kilkenny or Waterford city. Take the turnoff for Cork (N8). In Tipperary, watch out for the turnoff for Cahir (aka "Caher"), about 8 miles past the Cashel bypass. In Cahir, turn right in the center of the town and drive past the castle. Look for the signposts for Clogheen or "The Vee" (R668) and follow them. This road will lead you over the Knockmealdown mountains into Lismore.
From Lismore: Take the Tallow road (turn right at the monument after the castle). Just outside Lismore, you will see Hornibrooks Car Sales showroom. Take the right turnoff here for Glencairn, which is two miles away on the right, just after a junction.
From Cork Airport: At the roundabout outside the airport, turn left for Cork. Follow the signs towards the Kinsale roundabout, which is approximately 3 miles from the airport. Use the middle lane as you enter the roundabout and take the fourth exit, signposted "N25 (EAST) (N8, N20, N28) Rosslare, Waterford, Dublin." This road will take you east out of the city towards Waterford.
A few miles down the N25, you will enter the "Jack Lynch" tunnel, which goes under the river Lee. After the tunnel, use the middle lane initially and take the second exit (N8) for "Dublin/Fermoy" at the large roundabout. Later, take the exit signed "Rathcormac, Watergrasshill." At the next roundabout, go right for "Watergrasshill" and continue on the main route through the village. A few miles past Watergrasshill, you will see large paddocks on your right and a turnoff for Tallow/Midleton. Take this road and less than a mile later, turn left at the junction (signposted "Tallow" and "Castlelyons"). This road will lead you to Tallow via the villages of Conna and Curraglass. In the middle of Tallow, turn left at the T-junction.
