Description for B&B:
The two rooms are separate from our main house and have their own entrance. Each room has its own toilet and shower. The beds are 160x200 cm in size. Guests can enjoy breakfast on the terrace overlooking the swimming pool, or in the shared conservatory. The rooms are equipped with cable TV and flat-screen, and WIFI access is available. Private parking is also provided.Located in the charming village of Esnandes in the Charente-Maritime region, just a ten-minute drive from La Rochelle and the Ile de Ré. Esnandes is situated on the edge of the Marais Poitevin, also known as Green Venice. Our house is located in the heart of the village, two kilometers from the sea. The village has a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere, with narrow streets lined with beautiful holy-hocks and cream-colored houses. The fortified church, dating back to the 12th century, adds to the architectural richness of the village. Next to the church, visitors can explore the new Mytiliculture Museum, which showcases the history of mussel farming, as Esnandes was once a major center for cultivating Moules de Bouchot.
Esnandes is also conveniently positioned on the Bay of Aiguillon, with La Rochelle to the south and the Vendée beaches to the north. The bay is a natural reserve for migratory birds, attracting birdwatchers with its abundant food sources. The L.P.O (ornithological society) organizes guided walks for a closer look at the diverse bird life in this natural environment.
Despite its proximity to the popular tourist destinations of La Rochelle and the Ile de Ré, Esnandes maintains its authenticity as a charming seaside village. Even during the tourist season, the village remains peaceful and tranquil, making it an ideal place to relax while still being close to major attractions. The coastal pathway surrounding the Bay of Aiguillon offers scenic bicycle rides, and the impressive Ile de Ré bridge is less than half an hour away. A walk to Pointe Saint-Clément from our house provides a panoramic view of the bay, where visitors can admire stunning sunsets and the unique colorful fishing cabins known as carrelets that are characteristic of this part of the Atlantic coast.
For those seeking golden beaches, the Vendée coast with towns like Les Sables-d'Olonne and La Tranche-sur-Mer is less than a 45-minute drive away.
