Description for B&B:

"The true paradises are the ones we have lost," said M. Proust. However, it is impossible to truly understand this sentiment without venturing beyond the confines of your home.

Welcome to "Il Palazzotto," a country villa that dates back to the 18th century. Originally a farm in an Etruscan village, it is nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of the Sienese hills, adorned with cypress trees, castles, and farms surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. Conveniently located just 30 km from Siena, it serves as the perfect base for exploring the wonders of Tuscany. This region is renowned for its production of the famous Brunello di Montalcino wine, and is dotted with charming villages and monasteries along the historic "Via Francigena" route, which once connected France to Rome.

With its 6 comfortable double rooms and 6 bathrooms, our villa can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests. On the ground floor, you will find a spacious living room, a large lounge, and a well-equipped kitchen, all opening up to a panoramic terrace that overlooks a beautiful garden filled with flowers and plants, including a wisteria pergola. (Watch our video on Youtube titled "Il Palazzotto Siena.")

Indulge in a romantic candlelit dinner on the terrace, immersing yourself in a unique atmosphere surrounded by nature, while admiring the breathtaking panorama that once inspired Leonardo da Vinci. We also have another delightful terrace at a higher level, complete with a pool and a sunbathing area.

Spanning over 42 acres, the property is home to enchanting woods and Mediterranean vegetation, preserving a rich flora and fauna within a natural park that offers serene walking trails.

At "Il Palazzotto," we pride ourselves on offering our guests the expertise of our owner and qualified staff, who are readily available to assist with any needs or provide information about the local area, including cities, roads, farms, and castles. Our utmost care is dedicated to our kitchen, where you can savor the flavors of the region through our owner's preparation of typical local dishes, such as Tuscan bruschetta, zuppa di farro, tagliatelle ai funghi porcini, fiorentina steak, Pienza pecorino cheese, Montalcino Brunello wine, extra-virgin olive oil from Tuscany, ricciarelli cookies, and panforte.

This ancient house has been lovingly restored and renovated, preserving the traditional Tuscan style. The ground floor features a cozy living room with two fireplaces, perfect for unwinding. Guests also have access to telephone, fax, and internet connections. From the ground floor, you can step out onto the garden terrace or head up to the first floor, where the six bedrooms are located. The elegant dining room, adorned with antique furniture, houses a grand table that comfortably accommodates 14 people.

On the first floor, you will find six spacious bedrooms, tastefully furnished by the owner with high-quality furniture. Each room offers a splendid view, and the corner rooms feature private bathrooms with modern amenities, including a shower and bidet. All the rooms are furnished with double beds, and one of them also includes a third bed. The two central rooms boast canopy beds, while the other two have single beds. A bathroom with a shower is located down the hall, and there is an additional bathroom on the ground floor.

Thanks to its central location, "Il Palazzotto" allows for easy exploration of Florence, Siena, and the surrounding areas. In just an hour or a little more, you can reach most cities in Tuscany and Umbria, such as Assisi and Perugia. Rome is also within reach, approximately 200 km away.

Our region is famous for its rich history and natural beauty. Florence's Renaissance treasures, Siena's Gothic marvels, and the remnants of Etruscan and Roman civilizations are the cultural highlights of our land. Additionally, the charming towns of Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, and Monteriggioni are well worth a visit. Museums, abbeys, monasteries, Romanesque churches, and Roman baths add a special charm to your itinerary. Places like the St. Antimo Abbey in Montalcino, with its Gregorian chants, the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, adorned with Renaissance frescoes by Sodoma and Signorelli, and the captivating ruins of the Gothic Abbey of St. Galgano are just a few examples of the unique experiences awaiting you in this region.

The diverse landscapes of hills, vineyards, olive groves, woods, and fields, each adorned with colors that change with the seasons, will leave an indelible mark on your memory, becoming a part of your voluntary and involuntary recollections, as Proust would say.
