Our European Vacation
This is Our Story--
Our arrival in Paris on October 19, 2010 was met with a brand new Renault with minimum fuel in it, France in a General Strike with blockades of all 12 petroleum refineries in the country, and most gas stations with long lines and out of diesel fuel. All in the grand tradition of the French, à la Les Miserables. Barricades and all. After three hours of searching for fuel around Charles de Gaulle airport, tired and hungry, we had to leave the car, running on fumes, back at the agency and take a taxi (50 Euros) to our B&B for the night. The leasing agency, Renault Eurodrive was no help at all, turning us away with an impossible situation, a car with no fuel, and none to be had around Charles de Gaulle Airport.
The accommodations at La Fontaine Aux Tilleuls were wonderful, but more importantly, the next day lovely Martine helped us find diesel for the car. She drove us all around looking for fuel, and then she took us back to the airport to add fuel out of a jerry can, and retrieve the car.
With half a tank we headed off for the south of France two days later. We were more optimistic about being able to get fuel once we were in the country away from Paris, and heading for Spain.
If it wasn't for Martine taking us under her Angel's Wing, our month-long European vacation might have been ruined. We traveled 6,500 Km, visited ten countries, and at the end of our trip, we returned to La Fontaine Aux Tilleuls and Martine and Jean Claude for a lovely send-off before our return home.
We can't possibly recommend La Fontaine Aux Tilleuls and Martine and Jean Claude's hospitality highly enough. Their place is beautiful. They will surely take very good care of you.
