Description for B&B:
Our chambres dhôtes, a charming French Guesthouse or Bed and Breakfast, is situated in the delightful market town of Felletin, just a short 10-minute drive from Aubusson. Located in the department of La Creuse, in the beautiful Limousin Region, our guesthouse is conveniently positioned halfway between the cities of Limoges and Clermont-Ferrand, making it the perfect base for exploring the Auvergne region, including the stunning La Mont Dore and the majestic Puy-de-Dôme.The main house, which has been meticulously restored, retains its original features and is adorned with carefully selected antique furniture. While primarily dating back to the 18th century, some parts of the building may even have origins that stretch further back in time, as it sits on the site of one of the four gates to the medieval fortified town.
We offer traditional French chambres dhôtes with a touch of luxury, providing spacious and beautifully appointed ensuite rooms at affordable prices. Additionally, we are pleased to offer delicious vegetarian evening meals for our guests to enjoy.
The cost of a one-night stay in either Chambre 1 or Chambre 2, accommodating one or two persons, is 50 Euros. Chambre 3 can be utilized as an apartment, complete with a kitchen and a large bathroom featuring a full-sized bath and a rain-shower. Chambre 3 costs 60 Euros with the kitchen or 50 Euros without. Extra beds can be added to the rooms for a supplementary charge of 10 Euros per bed per night. Breakfast is available at a rate of 6 Euros per person, and our delightful vegetarian evening meals are priced at 20 Euros per person for a three-course meal, including cheese and coffee.
Felletin serves as the gateway to the picturesque plateau de Millevaches and is surrounded by stunning countryside, forests, and lakes. La Creuse is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering fantastic opportunities for walking, cycling, fishing, and photography due to its year-round natural beauty. With its captivating churches and other architectural gems, Felletin itself has much to offer without venturing far.
In Felletin, the water from the taps is eau de source, the same pure water found in bottled form, straight from the mountains. This water contributes to the delightful flavor of Fellis, a locally brewed beer crafted in a microbrewery within the town.
The town comes alive with a bustling market every Friday and hosts various other events throughout the year, including a Christmas market in the winter and a world music and dance festival during the summer months. Notable festivities and special "journées" include a book festival (journée du livre), a beer festival (fête de la bière), and the fête de Felletin.
The town square and its serene cobbled streets offer everything one might need, including charming cafes, bars, restaurants, boulangeries, pâtisseries, well-stocked supermarkets, banks, gift shops, and a tourist information office. There is also a larger supermarket on the outskirts of the town, within walking distance.
Apart from its renowned tapestry, Felletin is renowned for its neighbor Aubusson. Visitors can explore the famous Pinton factory, where the world-famous tapestry depicting Christ in Coventry Cathedral was produced. If you are seeking a chambres dhôtes in Aubusson, we recommend considering 3 Place des Arbres. Located just 10 kilometers from Aubusson, our luxurious guesthouse offers the perfect accommodation option.
The river Creuse flows through Felletin, providing a picturesque setting for enjoying a delightful evening by the riverbank, savoring a glass of champagne and indulging in locally produced cheese on delicious French bread.
La Creuse is a truly captivating region to visit. Not only does it offer the best of the Limousin region, but it also grants easy access to the neighboring Auvergne. Within only an hour's drive, you can reach the awe-inspiring Puy de Dome, a breathtaking area that is certainly worth discovering.
