Description:

Description for B&B:

Originally constructed in 1860 by a wealthy industrialist from Paris, the Castle of Ferns stands proudly on the heights of Trouville, providing its inhabitants with breathtaking views of the entire Côte Fleurie region.

Initially designed as an elegant seaside villa adorned with a unique winter garden, the castle underwent extensive expansions and renovations in the 1920s, transforming it into the grand structure it is today.

Over the years, the estate underwent significant changes, including the division of its land and the loss of its farming areas. However, it now comprises a magnificent ensemble consisting of the castle itself and numerous adjacent buildings, all nestled within a romantic 5-hectare park.

During World War II, the German army took over the castle, utilizing it first as an annex for religious purposes to aid in the recovery of the heavily damaged city of Caen. Subsequently, it served as a summer camp and later as a convalescent home.

Unfortunately, the castle fell victim to the economic downturn of the 1990s and was left abandoned and sealed off. However, in 1997, an individual purchased the property and initiated an extensive restoration project, aiming to erase the traces of its tumultuous past and revive the estate's former glory.

Today, the castle has been successfully restored and is open to guests and friends. Visitors are enchanted by the timeless beauty of this sleeping beauty, and the passionate owners take great pleasure in sharing its charm with others.
